Meet Pat, a 40+ year old male who complained of having crooked and assymetrical anterior teeth. He was also unhappy with the uneven coloration of his teeth. Aesthetic treatments were used in the past which consisted of composite resin bonding. Over time, the bondings failed, requiring additional bonding. Pat was now at the point where he wanted his teeth to appear normal, feel normal and have treatments that would be stable and not repeatedly fail, over time. After completing an evaluation, Dr. Briglia developed different treatment plans with additional options the patient could choose from for obtaining the degree of cosmetic result and function he wanted. Color and stability of the restorations were a critical element for Pat. We reviewed different types of porcelain veneer products and their individual properties (read more about veneer products). Pat ultimately selected the Da Vinci porcelain product because of the amount of control that he and Dr. Brigilia would have in fabricating veneers that would have the exact cosmetic appearance he wanted. Achieving artistic control over Translucence and Opalescence (properties that determine how life-life a veneer can become) are major qualities of Da Vinci porcelain products. Long term endurance is a property of all Da Vinci porcelain products. Pat's choice of this premium veneer achieved his goal of controlling appearance and long term endurance. The final outcome, as can be seen in the after photo, was quite dramatic. Pat was very pleased with the elimination of the opaque appearance his teeth had before, with composite resin bondings. Natural appearing symmetry was easily achieved, as well as the creation of a new Smile Line that he really didn't have before (smile line refers to the curvature of the incisal edges of the upper teeth matching the curve of the lips when smiling).
