The ADA recommends that children make their initial visit to the dentist after their first baby tooth erupts from the gums. This will typically happen somewhere within the first year of the child's life. Many times children who may be a bit apprehensive are welcomed into our practice with a "happy visit". On this visit if we realize your child is not ready for a complete check up and cleaning, we will not force the issue. We find it works much better to convert your child's appointment into a "happy visit." This is where your child is introduced to our dental team and gets the chance to take a "ride" up and down on the dental chair, and gets to make "Mr. Thirsty" the suction, drink up all the water in the cup.
