Our patient decided to avoid having to wear a removable partial denture when she lost two lower back teeth. She had dental implants and crowns placed that do not come out. When she saw the results she said "they are beautiful and feel like my own teeth. I cannot feel the difference between my new implant crowns and my real teeth." Dental implants will give our patient 100% of her back bite back. The dental implants will function and feel like normal teeth. Since the dental implants will function like tooth " roots" , they will keep the jaw bone healthy and prevent it from wearing / melting away as time goes on.

This female college student had fractured her front tooth, when someone bumped into her while she was drinking from a glass bottle. She was very upset to say the least, and was thrilled to have her front tooth cosmetically restored. One thing to note is, that with restorations that are needed in the critical “smile zone”, it is very important to block out the dark space behind the front teeth. In the above case, we first bonded on a very thin layer of “opaque” composite resin on the very back side of this tooth.
This bonding material is the same shade as the final “top” layer of material that we used to restore this young ladies tooth, but it is non “see-through”. We use this special “opaque” resin material in the back of the tooth, to duplicate and mimic the properties of the “dentine” layer of tooth structure that is just below the surface of the shiny white “enamel” layer of a natural tooth. This dentine layer extends all the way to almost the tip or incisal edge of a tooth, and it’s opaque, and “blocks out” the darkness in the back of the mouth.
If a front composite restoration is completed with only the final cosmetic resin, without first using an opaque resin to block out the darkness in the back of the mouth, you get a poor cosmetic result. The completed “white” front filling, will always look a bit dark, and will not match the adjacent teeth on either side of the newly bonded tooth. Our patient was thrilled with her final results. I also completed a conservative, enamel recontouring of her adjacent front tooth, to help match the length of the front teeth as well.
This patient had been away from seeing a dentist for over 18 years, due to traumatic dental experiences as a child and young teen. We see hundreds of patients each year who have had bad experiences as children or in their teen years. This patient had gotten to the point where he was very embarrassed and unhappy with his smile. He found our practice "online" in a search for sedation dentistry and drove over 90 minutes to see us for treatment. These before and after photos show the clinical cosmetic results of one long IV sedation appointment where we used direct bonding to remove decay and restore our patients smile. Needless to say, our patient was very happy with the results and his new smile.
If you feel you have a “gummy” smile or that your teeth look too short and uneven, then periodontal plastic surgery or gum contouring may be for you. This procedure removes gingival (gum) tissue to reveal more of the tooth crown. Extra gum tissue can hide the natural tooth structure making them look small and uneven. By contouring this tissue you can open up your smile showing more teeth and less gum. The procedure is safe and painless with quick healing and very little discomfort afterwards.
Our Board Certified Periodontal Specialist and team member, Dr John Nikas completed this minor cosmetic gum contouring for a young patient. She had come to our practice, in West Chester Pa, because she was very unhappy with the gummy look of her smile. In this patient’s case, a simple gum contouring was all that was needed to greatly improve her smile and self confidence. She was thrilled with her new smile after the procedure.

Our patient had fractured the edge off her front right tooth and wanted it cosmetically restored . In this case we used an opaque composite resin on the back surface of the tooth, to block out the darkness in the back of her mouth. Then we used a light regular composite to complete this restoration. Our patient was very happy with the result.

Here are Zoom One Hour Whitening Photos in office. These are the pre-treatment photos for our patient Claire who had pretty white teeth to start. She started at 030 on the bleach shade guide.
Dr. Nikas and Dr. Briglia did an excellent job in performing my implant. They were very meticulous and detail oriented so the implant fits perfectly. The procedure was painless and my tooth feels great. I would highly recommend them they do quality work.
